AI in Mining
In October 2025, Canary Systems exhibited at the International Slope Stability in Mining Conference, where we joined many industry professionals attending to exchange views on best practices and state-of-the-art slope technologies. The presentation titled “Incorporation of AI learned numerical processing algorithms to improve risk management in surface mining operations” was presented as part of this workshop on October 26 in Vancouver, Canada. This recording of that presentation was prepared by Alex Neuwirt and focuses on the integration of AI in technologies and use cases.

In 2025, we were honored to present our accepted abstract topic, “The Use of Machine Learning (ML) Technologies to Improve Risk Management in Mining.” Our presentation highlighted how machine-learning driven solutions can enhance risk assessment, streamline data management, and improve overall mine safety.
Geotechnical Radar Monitoring
Canary Systems prepared this course as a contribution to the Geotechnical Radar Monitoring program held by the Geotechnical Center of Excellence at the University of Arizona. Tailings Dam Monitoring and Risk Management
In June 2019, we held a webinar that covered two methodologies typically employed in monitoring tailings dams/levees. This webinar outlined several methods for each type of monitoring and outlines their strengths and weaknesses including Satellite Radar (InSAR), Ground-Based Radar, In-Place Inclinometers, Shape Accelerometer Arrays, Settlement Sensors, Pressure Cells, Piezometers, GPS, Robotic Total Stations, Wire Extensometers, and Weirs.
