Canary Systems offers a complete portfolio of engineering services, including risk management and data analysis. As a turnkey geotechnical monitoring problem solver, we are able not only to help with the implementation of data collection and management, but also provide a wide range of engineering services for mining and civil infrastructure projects such as:
- Monitoring data interpretation to extract meaning for actionable insights
- Instrumentation plans for surveillance and monitoring
- Hardware implementation design for data automation
- Data quality analysis related to:
- structural stability and performance
- slope stability (hard rock and soils/tailings)
- seepage
- hydrological conditions
- other geotechnical conditions
System Specification
Have a monitoring project but not sure how to explain what the requirements are? We can help. Collectively we’ve worked on hundreds of monitoring projects in a variety of markets. We can assist with all aspects of specification including detailing the quantities and types of monitoring points, the types of instrumentation, suitable data acquisition methods, communications infrastructure, and data management and presentation methods. Our expertise extends to computing infrastructure as well so our services can include server, network, security, environmental and other infrastructure specification issues.
System Design
Specifications help understand the monitoring requirements for a project. Data may be collected from several sources including not only automated systems but manual readings, whether collected with electronic or mechanical readouts. Once the requirements are understood and detailed in the Specification we can design the system to collect, store, manage and present the data.
If automated systems are required, our decades of collective experience with data acquisition hardware, communications, battery based power systems, field enclosures, lightning and other demands will be applied to provide the most reliable, cost-effective and state-of-the-art system available.
System Fabrication
Our in-house expert fabrication shop builds all of our off-the-shelf products and systems as well as custom systems to the highest standards of quality. National Electrical Code (NEC) wiring guidelines are used, this includes proper selection of wire sizes and insulation, proper tie-down procedures and over-load protection for all powered circuits. In addition we utilize several manufacturing and machine shops for the highest quality mechanical and machine parts. If it can be specified and designed, we can build it!
System Installation
Installation services include pre-work visits, managing electrical contractors, instrumentation installation, wiring installation, multiplexer and system installation, communications installation including wireless systems, and computer installation. Once all the equipment is installed we’ll commission it, this includes testing and verification of all instrumentation, multiplexing, measurements and communications. If problems develop with any of the components, whether instrumentation, systems or communications we’ll troubleshoot and remediate. With decades of collective experience working with all aspects of the monitoring system components we have the expertise to successfully deploy and maintain sophisticated data collection systems. We also have partner relationships with several other companies around the world who can provide similar services with staff who also meet the highest standard of expertise and capability.
Software Training
We have several standard training programs revolving around use of our software. These include training in the use of MultiLogger, and Administrator, Project Manager, Technician and Guest use of our database system including MLWeb. Training is typically provided on-site, however training can also be organized at our offices in New Hampshire.
Custom training programs to include instrumentation, data acquisition systems and communications are also available, contact us directly for scheduling one of our standard training programs or organizing a custom training program schedule.
Application Hosting
Use of MLWeb for providing Internet access to monitoring data requires an Internet connected Windows server. Depending on the project requirements we can host your site using our in-house servers or use one of our hosting providers. This provides high-reliability and hassle free hosting of your project data.
Related services include automation of data collection and database import from remote systems, ongoing project configuration management including database configuration and users, automated database and server backups and periodic reporting on instrumentation and monitoring performance. All at very cost-effective prices. Contact us for a quote for your project.
