Canary Systems works directly with customers to integrate systems and extract valuable data from a plethora of monitoring instruments across mine sites, helping operators understand and manage risks in the process. Its remit covers instrumentation, system architecture, hardware and software, and its own web-based data suite MLWeb.
The company implemented an automated remote monitoring solution at a large producing gold mine in the Dominican Republic last year, replacing a manual data collection system that was made up of Excel spreadsheets to process data and create graphs and reports.
The mine, the fifth largest gold-producing operation in the world, includes two open pits, a processing plant and a tailings storage facility. Canary proposed a solution to automatically collect and manage instrument data with the installation of more than 80 MLRemote® monitoring stations and 2 MLBase™ centralised collection points in the first and second installation phases.
