Innovative Data Acquisition Systems
Canary Systems Canada’s newest hardware products designed with extremes in mind
The Canary Systems® MLRemote® is a low-power, point-to-multipoint, programmable wireless datalogging system designed for demanding environments. The system was purpose designed for the mining, geotechnical, structural and environmental markets where the monitoring assets consist of numerous types of instruments, distributed over a large area, and are difficult to access.
Use of proprietary communication “push” technology allows for ultra-long battery life, between 3-5 years for the standard alkaline batteries, up to 10-years when using Lithium cells. The unit can easily be placed in a variety of remote locations for long-term monitoring applications. With fewer components, MLRemote systems are less of a target on sites where theft is a concern compared to the larger, more visible, and expensive alternatives.
Each system includes one or more MLBase™ units. These provide for queuing all inbound and outbound data communications with MLRemotes. Our web-based system configuration and management platform, MLWebHardware, provides for communicating with each MLBase and managing and organizing all MLRemote communications. MLRemote also includes built-in programming and control capabilities for very flexible measurement and control applications.
The Canary Systems MLGPS® integrates a multi-function GPS module into a turnkey power control, battery charging and communications platform, specifically designed for geotechnical and structural monitoring applications. It is available in two cost-effective variants: a portable version for quick deployments, and a fixed version for permanent deployments. All MLGPS units feature a NEMA rated enclosure including battery and solar panel.
MLGPS uses differential GPS to achieve its high precision. The precision GPS receiver is able to track GPS L1 and GLONASS L1 signals. An optional upgrade allows for additional constellations such as Galileo, BeiDou-3, QZSS, and IRNSS, as well as expansion up to 555 channels.
Unlimited post-processing solutions can be configured in MLSuite®. The average precision of data depends on the configured averaging time, typically ranging from 15 minutes to 24 hours.
The Canary Systems MLWebcam integrates the full features of a network camera into a turnkey station for state-of-the-art video monitoring. This unit is specifically designed with geotechnical and structural monitoring applications in mind, but can be used for any project where live video monitoring is needed.
The included network camera offers high resolution 1080p video with an impressive 360x combined optical and digital zoom, as well as 360° endless pan and 110° tilt (+20 to -90°). The AXIS Q6155-E also features Axis’ Zipstream technology, which significantly lowers bandwidth and storage requirements while preserving high-quality images to an SD card.
The camera housing is IP66 and NEMA 4X rated to withstand extreme conditions, with arctic temperature control allowing start-up in temperatures as low as -40 °C (-40 °F) and features such as the speed dry function, which allows the camera to shake off water droplets for a clear image even in rainy weather.
Implementation can be set up utilizing a variety of security features. Network security options range from password protection to IP address filtering, user access logs, HTTPS encryption and more.
The Canary Systems MLSAA is a turnkey system to automate data collection for up to 4 Measurand ShapeArrays. It comes integrated with all the components necessary to extract data from the ShapeArray sensors, store it locally, and transmit to the server for further processing and analysis. The optional MicroMux multiplexer provides up to 4 input channels for expanding the number of sensors connected to each datalogger.
The MLSAA can be optionally equipped with additional sensor interfaces to connect other instrumentation types, such as the VW Comm module, which allows for monitoring of a variety of instruments, including vibrating wire, flowmeters, linear potentiometers, 4-20mA and temperature devices such as YSI44005 type thermistors, among others.
Datalogger programming, data collection and visualization is fully integrated with and can easily be managed by the MLSuite® data management platform, without the need for any additional software. Once data is imported to MLSuite, users can prepare charts and calculations such as cumulative displacement.
With the ability to ingest data from a multitude of sources—including remote sensing devices, instrumentation and dataloggers from most vendors—MLWeb® is a comprehensive data integration platform. Its programmable interface allows for scheduling data collections from a multitude of devices, while its configurable database, file, scripting, and API import options allow users to bridge data silos. A fully integrated GIS engine provides for georeferencing of data, events, and locations with ease.
